On Sunday evening 14 December, I joined hundreds of families and members of our local Jewish community at the Gold Coast Chanukah celebration — a moment for light, faith and unity.
That light was darkened by the horrific violence unfolding at the Chanukah event in Bondi. What should have been a time of joy became one of shock, fear and profound sorrow.
The murder of innocent people is an attack on our nation and our values.
My thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, with the injured, and with a community forced once again to endure unimaginable pain.
