We’re so fortunate to live in such a vibrant and diverse part of Australia, and it’s a place I’m proud to call home.

Our beautiful electorate of McPherson spans 229 square kilometres across the southern Gold Coast, featuring world-class beaches, pristine rainforests, two national parks, and outstanding hiking trails through rolling hills and our picturesque valleys.

Home to more than 121,000 constituents, McPherson is characterised by an active coastal lifestyle, close-knit and welcoming communities, and a unique blend of relaxed seaside living and modern urban convenience.

Our natural beauty and renowned attractions also make McPherson a major tourism destination, supporting local businesses and jobs while attracting visitors from across Australia and the world. Our area’s lifestyle appeal continues to draw retirees, young families, and professionals alike.

The electorate sits within the southern portion of the City of Gold Coast, stretching from the New South Wales border north to Burleigh Heads, and inland to suburbs such as Clear Island Waters and Merrimac before stretching south-west through the Robina, Reedy Creek, and capturing the Tallebudgera and Currumbin Valleys.

Established in 1948, the electorate was named after the McPherson Ranges, which forms one of our natural boundaries. McPherson originally encompassed the entire Gold Coast region, including parts of the Scenic Rim and Southern Downs. As our region experienced rapid population growth throughout the 70s and 80s, the electorate gradually reduced in size, with northern areas forming the electorate of Moncrieff in 1983.

McPherson is made up of areas including, Coolangatta, Kirra, Bilinga, Tugun, Currumbin, Currumbin Waters, Currumbin Valley, Elanora, Palm Beach, Tallebudgera, Tallebudgera Valley, parts of Bonogin, Reedy Creek, parts of Mudgeeraba, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, parts of Miami, Varsity Lakes, Robina, Clear Island Waters, and parts of Merrimac.
