In this speech to the House of Representatives, I spoke about something deeply important to me — the great Australian dream of homeownership. Under the Albanese Government, that dream is slipping away. Labor’s housing policies have become a handbrake instead of a hand up. Prices are rising, supply is falling, and taxpayers are being left with a $60 billion liability. Homelessness is at its worst in living memory, and young Australians are being priced out of their first homes. During this speech I offer a different vision — one that focuses on increasing supply, cutting red tape, and building new cities to meet Australia’s growing population. I believe we must be bold enough to think big again, to create new opportunities for Australians to own their homes and build their futures. This isn’t just about economics — it’s about aspiration, independence and the belief that effort should be rewarded.
