Our home on the Gold Coast is defined by its natural beauty and unmatched coastal lifestyle, it’s no wonder our region is one of the fastest growing in the nation.

But with growth comes real challenges and it’s vital our infrastructure, housing, and services keep pace to support and protect the lifestyle that makes our community so unique.

In assessing our city’s public transport and tourism future, interconnectivity is important. I want to see our region better connected with the rest of South East Queensland.

As a means to address these challenges, community feedback to me over the past two years has shown strong support for extending the Gold Coast Heavy Rail.

Extending heavy rail from Varsity Lakes to Coolangatta will provide both local and intercity connection, support commuters, take cars off the road, and deliver direct access to the Gold Coast Airport.
