The newly elected Federal Member for McPherson, Mr Leon Rebello MP, will deliver his maiden speech in the House of Representatives this evening, marking a significant milestone in his journey as a first-term parliamentarian.
Mr Rebello was elected at the 2025 Federal Election, securing the trust of the southern Gold Coast community through a strong grassroots campaign centred on effective leadership, economic resilience, and practical solutions to the region’s most pressing challenges, including population growth and cost of living. In doing so, he became the first new member for McPherson in over 15 years.
At just 30 years old, Mr Rebello is the youngest member of the Federal Coalition. His election ushers in a new generation of leadership, with a renewed focus on shaping a future that meets the aspirations of all Australians.
In his first formal address to the National Parliament, Mr Rebello will reflect on his personal journey, the values that guide him, and the priorities he will champion.
“This speech marks the beginning of my formal contribution to our national debates, and it is an honour to stand in Parliament as a representative of the community I love,” Mr Rebello said.
“I am driven by the trust our community has placed in me, and I will be advocating to ensure every member of our electorate has the opportunity to succeed.”
